FOSTER CARE AGREEMENT

When a family becomes approved as a foster family, the foster parents are required to sign a "Foster Family Care Agreement" that details the responsibilities of DYFS and the foster family.  It is also signed by a DYFS supervisor.  This document has not been revised since 1993, so it is likely that some of the items will change with the current foster care system reform efforts.  The following summarizes the agreement as it is currently presented to families:

  • To view the responsibilities of the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS), in order to assist foster parents in caring for the children placed with them, click here.

  • To view the responsibilities of the foster parents, in order to meet the needs of each child placed with them, click here.

Should you have any questions regarding any information in the agreement, please contact the Northern Region Foster Care Unit at 877-297-7110.
